youth lagoon - “afternoon”

don’t sleep on this band, they are going places. the songwriting method behind essentially every track on this record, which is coming out in a few weeks on fat possum, is very intriguing. piece by piece, layer by layer, a new instrument, or sound, or texture is introduced to the song, building up these lush landscapes that just erupt with energy by the end. the vocals are super distant: noticeable but not distracting, and fit the music perfectly. i’m really excited to see where this project goes. the LP is called the year of hibernation and i’m sure you can find it somewhere on the internet without looking too hard. it’s really worth your time.
